About Us

Posse in the White City Parade, 2012The Jackson County Sheriff’s Posse is an all-volunteer non-profit organization.  Posse members dedicate their time to their community under direction of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.  Posse members give freely of their time, their horses, and the equipment needed to provide first-class service for community events and civic functions.

By being on horseback, the Posse serves as a highly visible symbol of the Sheriff’s commitment to serve the citizens of Jackson County.  To qualify for participation in a single event, each member donates countless hours in training and preparation to ensure a successful and safe event.

Gymkhana 4 017Not all Posse members are riding members. We welcome all volunteers willing to dedicate time to “ground support” functions for the Posse.  These members provide a valuable function, including being the “eyes and ears” around the Posse horses and equipment.  Community business partners also provide valuable financial support for the Posse.

We are proud to be involved in community events throughout the year.  The Posse participates annually in Parades, Events, and Community Service duties.  For upcoming events and appearances, please visit our ‘Events’ page.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
